Dynamite Entertainment’s recent Kickstarter campaign to bring artist Jose Gonzalez’ iconic rendition of Vampirella to life as a statue has surpassed its goal in under 24 hours. The campaign started with a meager goal of just $8,000, and at the time of publishing had nearly accrued $20,000!
The 1/6 scale resin statue sculpted by Steve Kiwus stands over twelve inches tall and comes with a five-and-a-half inch bat logo base:
To keep up the momentum, the company set the campaign’s first stretch goal to $21,000, at which point all backers will receive a digital copy of the Vampirella: Feary Tales graphic novel:
The Kickstarter is a part of the company’s larger Vampirella 50th anniversary celebration, including a brand-new ongoing comic series, which we first reported on last month.
Dynamite CEO & Publisher Nick Barrucci stated: “We’ve had incredible success with our statues and busts to date focusing on great creators from J. Scott Campbell to Art Adams, and we’re very excited to go now create a statue based on the art of THE classic Vampi creator! There was really no other piece of artwork that more deserved a statue for this special 50th anniversary occasion.”
Other pledge rewards include enamel pins, comics, graphic novels, an art book, and an alternate black & white statue – check it out at on Kickstarter.
