Night School Studio released over seven minutes of gameplay footage from its upcoming adventure game Afterlife at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, CA over the weekend. As the title indicates, the game takes place in the afterlife, specifically Hell. You play as a pair of recent college grads, who have somehow died and wound up in Hell and are on a quest to escape. Afterlife is highly reminiscent of 1998’s Grim Fandango, both due two games similar settings as well as the shared comedic style. The trailer shows what appears to be footage very early on in the game, as the players are just finding out that they’re dead.
Afterparty is expected to be released sometime next year for the PC.
You are Milo and Lola, recently deceased best buds who suddenly find themselves staring down an eternity in Hell. But there’s a loophole: outdrink Satan and he’ll grant you re-entry to Earth.
