Madmind Studio has announced, via Kickstarter, that its highly anticipated horror game Agony will have to undergo some censorship in order to maintain an M (mature) rating. If the studio doesn’t make the cuts, Agony will receive an AO (adults-only) rating and therefore become ineligible for release on Sony’s PlayStation 4 or Microsoft’s Xbox One console systems.
The company plans to release a free patch for the PC version that converts the game into an uncensored copy. Meanwhile, Kickstarter backers who’ve purchased a console version of Agony and want the uncensored edition can convert their purchase into the PC version before the game launches.
The studio also released an assortment of NSFW GIFs featuring graphic scenes that survived censorship that you can check out on the Agony Kickstarter page.
Agony is a first-person survival horror game currently in development. Players will begin their journey as tormented soul within the depths of hell without any memories about his past.
The special ability to control people on their path, and even possess simple minded demons, gives the player the necessary measures to survive in the extreme conditions they are in.
By exploring hostile environment and interacting with the other weary souls of the hellscape, the hero will soon understand that there is only one way to escape from Hell, and it will require a meeting of the mystical Red Goddess.
