Some shrewd players of asymmetrical multiplayer horror game Dead by Daylight have discovered a multitude of files relating to unannounced content in the game’s latest public test build patch. The files in question are sets of banner images and character skins which were broken down on reddit as belonging to four distinct content updates: “Bike Messenger”, “Moonrise”, “School Spirit”, and “Valentine’s Day”.
To get ahead of the leaks, the developers hastily announced the next in-game event, the “Moonrise” Lunar New Year event, with very little details given. From the forum post:
The “Moonrise” event will pit Survivors and Killers against one another. It will require them to gather or destroy Lunar Vessels scattered across the map. Collecting and/or destroying Vessels will reward players with points. These points will ultimately grant players Golden Coins.
Players may then exchange these coins for the Lunar New Year Cosmetics: 9 items total (or 3 full character outfits). When the event ends, players will have a couple of days to spend all their Golden Coins. After this period of grace, the Lunar Cosmetics will stay available in the store using Auric Cells.
The “Moonrise” Lunar New Year event begins sometime later this month – the game recently ended another in-game, the Winter Solstice, which we reported on last month.
The developer, however, did not reveal any information regarding the other leaks.
The “Bike Messenger” files simply show a banner and survivor character “Dwight” wearing a… bike messenger outfit:
Meanwhile, the “School Spirit” files consist of a banner & three different outfits for the killer “The Spirit” from this year’s Chapter IX: Shattered Bloodline DLC, which we first reported on back in August:
Finally, the “Valentine’s Day” files show new skins for “The Nurse” and “The Wraith”:
We have to imagine that the “Valentine’s Day” files are part of an in-game event around that holiday, while the “School Spirit” files may correspond to some kind of graduation or back-to-school content. However, we’ve no idea what the “Bike Messenger” files pertain to, so stay tuned as more information trickles out.
Originally released in 2016, asymmetrical multiplayer survival-horror game Dead by Daylight is now available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One for just $30:
You play as either a Survivor or a Killer. The Survivors aim is to escape the level, and the Killer’s goal is to stop them. Survivors use their 3rd person camera to look around, while the Killer’s FPS view is much more narrow.
