THQ Nordic Acquires The Rights To 90’s Gore Racer ‘Carmageddon’

THQ Nordic announced that it has acquired the rights to Carmageddon from Stainless Games. 90’s kids might remember gory racing game, originally released in 1997 for the PC, in which you get points for running over pedestrians (among other goals).

The original Carmageddon proved to be highly popular and was eventually ported to Android, GameBoy Color, iOS, Mac, Nintendo 64, and PlayStation. The game even went on to spawn three sequels: 1998’s Carmageddon II: Carpocalypse Now, Carmageddon TDR 2000 (in the year 2000), and Carmageddon: Reincarnation in 2015.

So far there is no word on exactly what THQ Nordic intends to do with this newly acquired IP, but we can only assume we’ll be getting some form of new Carmageddon title in the future.
