Shout! Factory has announced, via social media, that a new limited edition Steelbook of John Carpenter’s classic 1982 remake of The Thing is coming to its Scream Factory line of horror Blu-rays this Fall. Limited to ten thousand units, the three-disc set contains the film in 4K, plus two more discs of extras, all housed in a durable Steelbook case featuring brand-new cover art by Nathanael Marsh:

The Thing was directed by John Carpenter, written by Bill Lancaster, and stars Kurt Russell, Wilford Brimley, T.K. Carter, David Clennon, Keith David, Richard Dysart, Charles Hallahan, Peter Maloney, Richard Masur, Donald Moffat, Joel Polis, and Thomas Waites.

While Scream Factory’s The Thing Limited Edition Steelbook won’t be released until Tuesday, November 6th, it’s now available on preorder for just $28.43:

Synopsis:

In the winter of 1982, a twelve-man research team at a remote Antarctic research station discovers an alien buried in the snow for over 100,000 years. Soon unfrozen, the form-changing alien wreaks havoc, creates terror… and becomes one of them.
