The final title and official logo for Sony Pictures’ upcoming second Goosebumps movie was revealed on social media yesterday. Based on the series of young adult horror novels by R.L. Stine, the plot of the new movie, entitled Goosebumps: Haunted Halloween, centers around the evil ventriloquist dummy named “Slappy”, a recurring villain in the books.
In fact, “Slappy” himself made the announcement:
Early last month the author announced, via Facebook, that filming had begun on the new movie, which he referenced as “Slappy Halloween”. Apparently, the name was changed since then.
Goosebumps: Haunted Halloween will be the second live-action feature based on the Goosebumps franchise, following 2015’s Goosebumps starring Jack Black. The film is expected to hit theaters nationwide this October.
