Fox Searchlight Pictures has announced that it’s creating Searchlight Television, a new division that will focus on bringing content to TV, cable, and streaming. Searchlight Television will produce original content and utilize Fox Searchlight Pictures existing library of films for adaptation to the small screen. Fox Searchlight Pictures horror films include The Shape of Water, Day Watch, The Hills Have Eyes (2006), Night Watch, and Club Dread.
The new brand will be headed by David Greenbaum & Matthew Greenfield, who’ve been promoted to Presidents of Production for Film and Television at Fox Searchlight Pictures.
Greenfield & Greenbaum stated “Searchlight has always been dedicated to bringing the unique stories of passionate creators to audiences worldwide. This evolution allows us to expand upon that mission, and provides our talent new opportunities to tell their stories in the widest variety of creative outlets, all the while maintaining the safe haven and dedicated creative approach that is Searchlight’s hallmark.”
So far there’s no word on any specific content the newly formed Searchlight Television will produce.
Earlier this month, we reported that Fox Searchlight signed an exclusive deal with Academy award-winning Director Guillermo del Toro and created a new studio for genre films to be headed by del Toro.
