Shudder Releases New Documentary Series ‘Horror Noire’

Horror streaming service Shudder has released the documentary series Horror Noire. Based on the book of the same name by Dr. Robin R. Means Coleman, the series explores the evolving relationship between black Americans and horror cinema.

The over minute-long official trailer features commentary from filmmaker Jordan Peele, veteran horror actors Keith David, Loretta Devine, Tony Todd, and others, plus scenes from Blacula, Friday the 13th: A New Beginning, Night of the Living Dead, Scream 2, and more.

The show also features interviews with Dr. Means Coleman, Ernest Dickerson, Rusty Cundieff, Tina Mabry, Paula Jai Parker, and Tananarive Due.

Horror Noire is now available to stream, exclusively on Shudder.

A critical look at a century of genre films that by turns utilized, caricatured, exploited, sidelined, and embraced both black filmmakers and black audiences.
